21 Things I’ve Learned at 21!

I turned 21 last week (13th of June 🎈)and thought I would put together a list of things I have learnt in my 21 years of being alive! I still can’t get over the fact that I’m 21, An adult (kind of). It still feels like I’m 16! Some things in this list are random facts and some are lessons I’ve learned.

  1. The first thing is the fact that family is everything. My family is the most important thing in the world to me and I love them so so much!
  2. My mum is an actual angel. She will always go out of her way to make sure I have everything I need and want. She has made the past 21 years amazing and I don’t know what I would do without her. ❤️
  3. Having a few close friends is better than having a ton of people you hang out with. I literally went from have a group of almost 20 friends in high school to having about 3 close friends now. And I am completely ok with that!
  4. Travelling is important. I haven’t done much travelling in my life, but am currently in the process of planning a big trip! It’s so great to travel and see how other people live.
  5. I can’t live without coffee
  6. I’d rather go out for breakfast than go out clubbing. Since I turned 18 (the legal drinking/clubbing age in Australia) I have been to a handful of parties and clubbing twice. It’s just not what I’m into, I’m much more of a home body.
  7. I’m more of a creative person than a numbers person. I used to get so stressed out during maths in high school, but really loved English and visual arts. I actually enjoyed writing essays (weird, I know) and I loved painting.
  8. If you want something you have to work for it.
  9. My favourite books are “Girl Boss” by Sophia Amoruso, “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” by Truman Capote.
  10. One of my favourite quotes is – “It is she who listens to the rest of the world who fails, and it is she who has enough confidence to define success and failure for herself who succeeds” from Girl Boss.
  11. Do what you want to do, not what everyone else wants you to do.
  12. Mental health is just as important (if not more) than physical health. If you are ever going through something, either depression, anxiety or any other form mental health issue, you NEED to talk to someone. It’s much harder to get through things like that on your own.
  13. Pursue your passion.
  14. You need to stick up for yourself.
  15. I’ve discovered a love for photography and photo editing.
  16. I’m obsessed with bubble tea.
  17. You NEED to BE YOURSELF. Do things you want to do, don’t do things you don’t want to do.
  18. It’s good to push yourself a little bit out of your comfort zone so you can experience new things. You could discover something you love!
  19. Be grateful for what you have while working for what you want. You need to be happy and content in your current situation while you’re working to reach your goals! Everything will work out eventually.
  20. You need to treat yourself every now and then.
  21. Love yourself.
